What this is

I'm Dennis Allende, an engineer and maker based in Santiago, Chile. This is my personal blog — a place for my ideas, and for the projects I build in my own time.

I make things mostly to understand how they work: cameras and the electronics inside them, kilns, tools, small pieces of software, the odd experiment that doesn't fit anywhere else. A lot of it is the kind of thing you can't find written down clearly, so once I've worked it out, I write it down here.

The posts are half build-log, half reference: what I was trying to do, what went wrong, and the version that finally worked — so the next person (often future me) doesn't have to start from scratch.

I also run The Form of Clay, which is the pottery side of my work — tools and writing for potters. This blog is the personal, everything-else side.
